restoring our biblical and constitutional foundations

Our Nations Watchmen

 David Alan Black

The evangelical church is being called upon at this crucial moment in its history to fly with its own wings, but we see a lack of trained and qualified leadership in the ecclesiastical domain that is just as important as that in the political domain.

If we would ask ourselves the reason for this deficiency, the least answer we can give is this: the church does not know how to disengage itself from the embrace of the world. We have forgotten that the church ought to represent itself to the world as the witness to the revolution that began in that supreme act when God reconciled man to Himself – a revolution that penetrates and permeates all levels of society, whether individual, familial, national, or international.

I know of few men who are more adamant about getting this message across than Vice-Presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, himself a pastor. Chuck will be holding a rally with Michael Peroutka in Pensacola, Florida this Thursday that you won’t want to miss if you can possibly attend. I wish I could come too, but I will not be able to make it. So in my absence I want to say to Chuck and Michael:

Thanks for all you are doing to remind the Body of Christ of the Gospel it has to preach and that it must always preach.

Thanks for reminding us that in His great desire to save the world Christ broke through every sphere of life, including the political sphere, in order to announce liberty to the captives.

Thanks for fulfilling your God-given duty to be the “salt of the earth” by participating in the Constitution Party not as an end itself but as a witness to Christ – Christ the Conqueror of the world, Christ the loving Savior who draws men to Himself.

Thanks for being the “watchmen” in the midst of the nation, prophetically witnessing to the divine demands for truth, justice, and peace, and against all forms of immoral and unconstitutional aggression, injustice, and corruption.

Thanks, finally, to your families for the great sacrifices they have made by supporting your candidacies.

May all of you remember the promise of the Savior, “Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.” May you find in Him the blessed relief that comes when we realize that we are sharing this new and easy yoke with the strong Son of God Himself.

So thank you, and God bless you.
